Letters from Our Parents

My name is Grace Aunoa and my daughter Anastacia goes to the Mt. View center of KCI Head Start. I was the one very nervous to let my daughter be out of my sight, she needed me. The staff was very comforting and reassuring to me that my daughter would be okay. They would feed her 3 times a day so I didn’t need to worry about her going hungry.

When Ana first started she could only sing the first 3 letters of the alphabet song and hum the rest. She now knows all the letters in her name by sight and sound and several others besides. She’s learned all sorts of songs. She can count to 15. She can find her binder because she can now recognize her name. She can understand verbal directions so much better now and her speech has improved as well. She can hold long conversations with an adult about her school, her friends, her teachers, home, toys, oh my the list goes on. She can identify 8 colors and some shapes. KCI staff have not only helped our children with their physical, emotional and mental skills but have reached out it’s unlimited loving arms to their families as well. They have gone far and beyond in helping our children and families in need. I am very proud to be involved in their meetings, committees and activities. All these opportunities help to strengthen myself, my family and our program.

My children are enrolled with Kids’ Corps Head Start. I am excited to see them participate in an academic program that encourages the development of the whole person. Kids’ Corps Head Start provides unique and meaningful experiences for both my son and daughter. My daughter has special needs which are centered on social engagement. I am confident this has provided her a foundation for success in the years to come. Much like Curious George, my son is full of energy and imagination; however, I am not The Man In The Yellow Hat. Therefore, it is great to have a place like KCI Head Start to help encourage and guide him on his many roads of discovery.

The Head Start program is important to our family because, it is an early start for our child’s education. In the 4 months he has attended he has learned alphabetical order, recognize and write his name, shapes, and objects, animals, and colors. The program has recognized his speech delay and immediately got him speech therapy. It is a very excellent program all year round.

Head Start program is helpful to families, it gives families an opportunity to find a job, go to school, to better themselves for the future. Our family is happy with this program. Without the head start program most families would have a difficult time teaching the children what the head start program can do. The teachers are great, the program is great. We are satisfied with the program and very thankful for the program.

Thank you, Hayden & Deng Family

To Whom It May Concern:

Head Start has been very helpful to my daughter and myself in maintaining our goals for her. They help with the right service for helping my daughter with her learning disability. She has really improved and learning more and more each day. Head Start is a wonderful program.
